Wow. Do you think he would be a good fit? Seems like another 3-4 line center... which wouldn't help.
Anyone know if he still has his legs? For the fast paced game the Hawks play... |

I was thinking he will go to Vancouver, who has a big need for a second line center right now. Like you said, for minimal dollars, why not? Who would he replace on the roster, though? Bollig? |

If there's one thing he did well in Montreal, it was skate the puck up the ice. Speedy and shifty. |

Bowman fiddles while the Hawks chances burn. Freakin Gomez! I'd be better coming out of retirement for depth at Center! |

How is Gomez at the dot? - hawks2010
Last three years I believe he has been right around 50% when you average them out. |

If Stan is looking for a veteran on a 1 year deal why not go for Arnott over Gomez? For the league minimum Gomez may bring some value to the team, but I think it's worth spending a bit more for Arnott. |

I wouldn't mind seeing Gomez in the Indianhead, if it's on the cheap. He's 33, but he's also had plenty of rest with Montreal burying him in the press box. He'll be out to prove that he's still a capable NHL player, and I could see his style meshing well with the Hawks if he can return to near-prime form. I feel like he never really got a fair shake in Montreal, because if you don't get immediate results as a Hab, the fan base turns on you immediately. Sort of like Chicago and our quarterbacks. |

A blog on the performance of Stan Bowman? Don't you have to do something before you can be deemed to have "performed"? There are dead guys getting more done than SB, and exhibiting more personality while doing so. Outta be a real short blog. |

being in the northeast for the past few years, i've seen gomez play a lot, and i can say with the utmost confidence, that he brings NO VALUE to your team what-so-ever. he is just not a good hockey player anymore. he can't score, he isn't much of a passer, his skating is weak, he isn't physical, hockey iq is average at best. maybe you bring him in as a veteran presence, but the hawks already have tons of that.
there are WAAAAYYYYYYYY better players availabe, who would cost the same. |

You can spin it however you want, signing Gomez is NOT a smart move.
Now watch Calgary sign him... - KABLOOEY
I'm not spinning it. For a team looking for center help that might otherwise do nothing, it might be worth a flyer, like the Morrison move last year. Might. Just as easily, they'd be about the same without it. That's all.

the guy went an entire calender year without scoring a goal!!!!!! no matter what expectations are, no matter how insane fans are, that is UNBELIEVABLY AWFUL!!!!! the guy is one of the most useless players in the league. he has pretty much zero desierable attributes. |

Bolland took a shot off the hand last night JJ. This could also be a reaction for the purpose of filling his center slot. Last year the hawks were hit with the Injury bug forcing them to pick up Brendan Morisson. |

For those that beleive McD pulls some strings, signing Gomez would be your typical McD orchestrated PR move.
Lets sign a guy with "name" recognition. Heck he was at a cap hit of $7+ mil from the Habs....he must be good. He was a superstar.....
You can shove that down the throats of all the lemmings with no Hockey sense. |

Im still pretty pissed that the Hawks didnt make a move to even negotiate for Lombardi. Reminds me of how Vermette went to Phoenix and murdered us in that series. |
